AIccommodate
AIccommodate Accessibility Conformance Report
WCAG Edition
(Based on VPAT® Version 2.5Rev)
Notes
- Scope: the AIccommodate web application at app.aiccommodate.com and its public pages. Logged out: the landing page, staff sign-in form, pricing, help centre, teacher quick-start, privacy policy, terms of service, accessibility statement, password reset, and the family portal and student portal entry pages. Signed in as a teacher: the home page (course grid and recent assignments), a course page and an assignment workspace, each with real course data; the Atticus assistant with its conversation list and Account settings with a real account; and the Accommodation Wizard, Differentiator, Reading Scaffolds, Writing Scaffolds, UDL Analysis and Accommodation Lookup in their starting state, before any material is generated; plus the header menus, notifications panel and the inactivity warning.
- Not evaluated in this edition: the administrator and SAI provider roles; the student and family portals beyond their entry pages; the student roster, materials library, course import and export dialogs; billing; and the Google and Canvas connection flows.
- Materials that the tools generate, and their exports to Google Docs, Word or PDF, are built from the teacher’s own content and are outside the scope of this report. Google Docs and Word exports carry real document headings; PDF exports are laid out for printing and are not tagged PDFs.
- Third-party services the product links to or embeds (Google sign-in, Stripe Checkout, YouTube embeds, Canvas and Google Classroom pages) are covered by those vendors’ own accessibility reports.
- This report is a self-evaluation by AIccommodate LLC and has not been reviewed by a third party. No organization issues an official WCAG certification. This is the first edition of the report; later editions will carry a new report date and a note here describing what changed.
Evaluation Methods Used
- Three evaluation passes on October 6 and 7, 2026: a baseline, a re-evaluation after remediation, and a final confirmation. The second and third passes covered the signed-in pages with real course data through the product’s own backend, read-only.
- Automated testing with axe-core 4.10 (Deque Systems), rule tags wcag2a, wcag2aa, wcag21a, wcag21aa and wcag22aa plus best-practice rules, run through Playwright 1.59 in Chromium 147 on every page and state listed in Notes, logged out and signed in. The same WCAG rule set is part of the product’s end-to-end test suite (tests/e2e/ux-loop/a11y-axe.spec.js, npm run test:a11y) and is run before releases that change the interface.
- Scripted keyboard testing: full Tab traversal of every page, comparing the elements reached with the interactive elements present; opening and closing menus and dialogs with Enter, Space and Escape; measuring the contrast of every focus indicator against its surroundings; checking that focus returns to the triggering control and that no focused element is hidden behind fixed or sticky content.
- Scripted presentation testing: a 320 CSS pixel viewport (reflow); a 640 by 450 viewport at 2x as a 200% zoom equivalent; WCAG text-spacing overrides injected as styles, with automated detection of clipped, truncated or overlapping text; measurement of every interactive target; computed contrast of text, placeholders, control boundaries and focus indicators, with text over gradients checked by sampling rendered pixels; and a visual comparison against the pre-remediation build to catch layout regressions.
- Manual code review of the React components against the WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices: menus, dialogs, live regions, drag-and-drop lists, forms and error handling, media, animation and reduced motion, time limits, language attributes, keyboard shortcuts and input purposes.
- Testing was performed by the product’s developers, who know its common flows. Screen-reader testing with VoiceOver on macOS follows a written script (docs/trust/accessibility/SCREEN_READER_TEST_SCRIPT.md in the product repository); the first full pass will be incorporated in the next edition of this report.

WCAG 2.x Report
Note: When reporting on conformance with the WCAG 2.x Success Criteria, they are scoped for full pages, complete processes, and accessibility-supported ways of using technology as documented in the WCAG 2.0 Conformance Requirements.
| Criteria | Conformance Level | Remarks and Explanations |
|---|---|---|
| 1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A) | Supports | Images have text alternatives, and decorative images are marked as decorative. Icon-only controls have accessible names, for example Notifications, Help, Start voice input, and Rename, Archive and Delete on each Atticus conversation. Verified with automated rules and a review of every rendered image on the evaluated pages. Images that the tools generate were not evaluated (see Notes). |
| 1.2.1 Audio-only and Video-only (Prerecorded) (Level A) | Not Applicable | The application publishes no prerecorded audio-only or video-only content. Read-aloud audio is generated on request from text that remains on the page. |
| 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded) (Level A) | Not Applicable | No synchronized media is presented in the application. |
| 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded) (Level A) | Not Applicable | No synchronized media is presented in the application. |
| 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A) | Supports | Headings, lists, tables, form labels and landmarks are conveyed in markup. Every evaluated page has one level-one heading, no skipped heading levels, and banner, navigation, main and contentinfo landmarks. Error messages are programmatically associated with their fields. Verified with automated rules and a structure review of every evaluated page. |
| 1.3.2 Meaningful Sequence (Level A) | Supports | Reading and focus order follow the visual order, and the order at 320 CSS pixels wide matches the desktop order. |
| 1.3.3 Sensory Characteristics (Level A) | Supports | Instructions refer to controls by name; none rely on shape, colour, size or position alone. |
| 1.4.1 Use of Color (Level A) | Supports | Links in body text are underlined, or differ from the surrounding text by weight and by at least 3:1 contrast. Errors use text and an icon, required fields are marked in their labels, and selected states use a fill as well as colour; the open Atticus conversation is also marked as current. |
| 1.4.2 Audio Control (Level A) | Supports | No audio plays automatically. Read-aloud and recordings start only on request and have their own controls. |
| 2.1.1 Keyboard (Level A) | Supports | All functionality is available from the keyboard: navigation, menus and dialogs, tabbed panels (arrow keys), the Accommodation Lookup list, Atticus conversations (open, rename, archive, delete), file upload (click to browse as well as drop) and list reordering (Move up and Move down buttons). Verified by keyboard traversal of every evaluated page; the reordering buttons were verified by code review. |
| 2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap (Level A) | Supports | No keyboard traps. Dialogs keep focus while open, by design, and release it with Escape or their buttons. |
| 2.1.4 Character Key Shortcuts (Level A 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | The product defines no single-character keyboard shortcuts. |
| 2.2.1 Timing Adjustable (Level A) | Supports | The only session time limit is a 30-minute inactivity sign-out that protects student data. Two minutes before it, an alert dialog announced to assistive technology warns the user, shows a countdown and offers Stay signed in, which extends the session and can be chosen any number of times; ordinary activity does not dismiss the warning. Verified with a controlled clock. Toast notifications close themselves after 3.5 to 8 seconds (longest for errors) and can be closed sooner; they confirm actions whose outcome remains visible on the page. |
| 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide (Level A) | Supports | The landing page's decorative animation runs once for less than five seconds. The guided demo tour has a pause control that also stops its spinner, and all animation stops under the operating system's reduced-motion setting. In-app spinners show the progress of a request and stop with it. |
| 2.3.1 Three Flashes or Below Threshold (Level A) | Supports | No content flashes. |
| 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks (Level A) | Supports | A Skip to main content link is the first focusable element on every page and moves focus into the main landmark; pages also expose landmarks and headings. On the tool pages and in Atticus, focus starts inside the main content when the page opens. |
| 2.4.2 Page Titled (Level A) | Supports | Every page has a specific title in the form “Page — AIccommodate”. |
| 2.4.3 Focus Order (Level A) | Supports | Focus order follows the visual order. Closing a menu with Escape returns focus to its button and leaving a menu closes it; a failed sign-in moves focus to the error; dialogs and inline editors return focus to the control that opened them. |
| 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A) | Supports | Link text describes the destination, and links that open a new tab say so. |
| 2.5.1 Pointer Gestures (Level A 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | No multipoint or path-based gestures are required. |
| 2.5.2 Pointer Cancellation (Level A 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | Actions run on release (click), not on press. |
| 2.5.3 Label in Name (Level A 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | The accessible name of every control with visible text contains that text. Verified on every evaluated page. |
| 2.5.4 Motion Actuation (Level A 2.1 and 2.2) | Not Applicable | No function is operated by device motion. |
| 3.1.1 Language of Page (Level A) | Supports | Every page declares English as its language. |
| 3.2.1 On Focus (Level A) | Supports | Moving focus never changes the page, opens a window or submits a form. |
| 3.2.2 On Input (Level A) | Supports | Changing a setting never submits a form or navigates; filters apply in place and submitting uses a button. |
| 3.2.6 Consistent Help (Level A 2.2 only) | Supports | The Help button and its menu (guides, walkthroughs, FAQs, AI Chat, contact support) are in the same place on every signed-in page; public pages have the contact link in the same footer position. |
| 3.3.1 Error Identification (Level A) | Supports | Input errors are identified in text, announced, and associated with their fields, for example a failed sign-in, an empty required display name or a missing email address. |
| 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions (Level A) | Supports | Fields have visible labels or accessible names, required fields are marked, and hint text is associated with its field. |
| 3.3.7 Redundant Entry (Level A 2.2 only) | Supports | No evaluated process asks for the same information twice; stored values are pre-filled. |
| 4.1.1 Parsing (Level A) | Supports | WCAG 2.0 and 2.1: always Supports per the September 2023 editorial errata. WCAG 2.2: obsolete and removed; does not apply. |
| 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (Level A) | Supports | Custom controls expose name, role and state: menu buttons expose whether they are expanded, tabs expose selection, toggles expose their pressed state, the inactivity warning is an alert dialog with a name and description, and the open conversation is marked as current. Verified with automated rules and a review of every evaluated page. |
| Criteria | Conformance Level | Remarks and Explanations |
|---|---|---|
| 1.2.4 Captions (Live) (Level AA) | Not Applicable | No live audio or video content. |
| 1.2.5 Audio Description (Prerecorded) (Level AA) | Not Applicable | No synchronized media is presented in the application. |
| 1.3.4 Orientation (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | No orientation is locked; every evaluated page works in portrait and landscape. |
| 1.3.5 Identify Input Purpose (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | Fields that collect information about the user carry the matching autocomplete tokens: username, current-password, new-password, name, email and organization. |
| 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA) | Supports | Text, including placeholder text, meets 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text) on every evaluated page, logged out and signed in with real course data. Verified with automated rules on every page and, for text over gradients and tints that automated rules cannot decide, by sampling the rendered pixels behind the text. This edition corrected the grey text colours, the Atticus accent colour, the category badges, the sign-in button gradient and several small labels. |
| 1.4.4 Resize Text (Level AA) | Supports | Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content or function: every evaluated page was checked at a 640 by 450 viewport at twice the pixel density with no clipping, overlap or horizontal scrolling. Browser zoom is not restricted. |
| 1.4.5 Images of Text (Level AA) | Supports | Images of text are not used, apart from the logo. |
| 1.4.10 Reflow (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | At 320 CSS pixels wide every evaluated page reflows into one column with no horizontal scrolling of the page. Data tables scroll horizontally inside their own region, as the criterion allows. |
| 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | Focus indicators are a solid ring in the primary blue (4.9:1 against white, at least 3:1 against every background measured), and form-field boundaries are 4.4:1. Measured on every focus stop and every form field of the evaluated pages. |
| 1.4.12 Text Spacing (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | With line height 1.5, paragraph spacing 2 em, letter spacing 0.12 em and word spacing 0.16 em applied, no text is clipped, truncated or overlapped on the evaluated pages; long titles wrap instead of truncating. Recommendation reasons show a two-line preview until their disclosure button expands them. |
| 1.4.13 Content on Hover or Focus (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | The product adds no content on hover or focus apart from the browser's own tooltips. The conversation actions that appear when focus enters an Atticus card are part of the card and stay visible while focus remains in it. |
| 2.4.5 Multiple Ways (Level AA) | Supports | Signed-in pages can be reached from the header navigation, the home-page links, the Help menu and the Atticus assistant; public pages from the site navigation and the footer. |
| 2.4.6 Headings and Labels (Level AA) | Supports | Headings and labels describe their topic or purpose. |
| 2.4.7 Focus Visible (Level AA) | Supports | Every focusable control shows a visible focus indicator (see 1.4.11). Verified on every focus stop of every evaluated page. |
| 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) (Level AA 2.2 only) | Supports | No focused control is hidden by sticky headers or fixed elements on the evaluated pages. |
| 2.5.7 Dragging Movements (Level AA 2.2 only) | Supports | Assessment questions and queued tools can be reordered with Move up and Move down buttons as well as by dragging, and file drop zones also accept click-to-browse. Verified by code review; a reorderable list was not available during read-only testing. |
| 2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum) (Level AA 2.2 only) | Supports | Interactive targets are at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, or are links inside text, or have the spacing the criterion allows. Measured on every evaluated page. |
| 3.1.2 Language of Parts (Level AA) | Partially Supports | The interface is in English and declares it, and Means Translator Studio pages declare the language of their content. Text that a tool or the Atticus assistant generates in another language at a teacher's request, such as an assessment written in Spanish, is shown without a language attribute, so a screen reader may read it with English pronunciation. Planned: mark generated passages with their language. |
| 3.2.3 Consistent Navigation (Level AA) | Supports | The header, navigation and Help menu appear in the same order on every page that has them. |
| 3.2.4 Consistent Identification (Level AA) | Supports | Functions use the same names and icons across pages. |
| 3.3.3 Error Suggestion (Level AA) | Supports | Error messages say how to correct the input. The sign-in failure message is deliberately non-specific for security, as the criterion allows. |
| 3.3.4 Error Prevention (Legal, Financial, Data) (Level AA) | Supports | Deleting conversations, students, courses or materials requires confirmation; payment is completed in Stripe Checkout, which allows review before paying; entered data remains editable. |
| 3.3.8 Accessible Authentication (Minimum) (Level AA 2.2 only) | Supports | Sign-in uses a username and password with no cognitive function test; paste and password managers work, and Google sign-in is also available. |
| 4.1.3 Status Messages (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2) | Supports | Status messages are announced by assistive technology: sign-in and form errors, search result counts, notifications and the content word count. Atticus replies are added to a live log that announces each reply once it has finished streaming (verified by code review). |
