Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed: October 2026
An accommodation tool has to be usable by every teacher, student, and family member who opens it.
Accessibility Conformance Report
Our current Accessibility Conformance Report, written on the ITI VPAT® 2.5Rev template (WCAG edition), is available as an accessible web page and as a PDF. Schools may attach it to procurement files and accessibility assurances.
1. Our Commitment
AIccommodate LLC builds the AIccommodate web application to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in a new tab) at Level AA, which also covers WCAG 2.1 and 2.0 at Level AA. Accessibility is a release requirement, not a feature: changes to the interface are checked against WCAG before they ship, and barriers reported to us are treated as defects.
2. Conformance Status
The teacher application, the public pages, the student portal entry, and the family portal entry were evaluated in October 2026. The criterion-by-criterion result is published in the Accessibility Conformance Report linked above. Where a criterion is marked “Partially Supports,” the report names the affected function and the planned fix, and the same items are listed under Known Limitations below.
The report is a self-evaluation by AIccommodate LLC and has not been reviewed by a third party. No organization issues an official WCAG certification; the report states, criterion by criterion, what we tested and what we found.
3. How We Test
- Automated checks. The axe-core rule set for WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 Levels A and AA is part of our end-to-end test suite and runs against the public pages and the signed-in tools before releases that change the interface.
- Scripted keyboard, zoom, and reflow checks. Every audited page is traversed with the keyboard alone to confirm reachability, focus order, visible focus, and the absence of traps; pages are checked at 320 CSS pixels wide, at 200% zoom, and with WCAG text-spacing overrides applied.
- Code review of custom components. Names, roles, states, live regions, and focus management in menus, dialogs, drag-and-drop lists, and the Atticus chat are reviewed against the WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices.
- Design tokens. Text colours used by the interface are defined centrally and held at or above a 4.5:1 contrast ratio; focus indicators and control borders at or above 3:1.
- Screen readers. Screen-reader testing with VoiceOver follows a written script; the first full pass will be reflected in the next revision of the report.
4. Known Limitations
- Language of generated text (WCAG 3.1.2). Text that a tool or the Atticus assistant generates in a language other than English, such as an assessment written in Spanish, is shown without a language marker, so a screen reader may read it with English pronunciation. Means Translator Studio pages already declare their language. Planned: mark generated passages with their language.
5. Generated Materials and Exports
The materials teachers create with AIccommodate are built from the teacher’s own content, and their accessibility depends on that content, so they are outside the scope of the conformance report. Google Docs and Word exports are built from structured content: headings in the material become real document headings, so a screen reader can navigate them and the teacher can keep editing. PDF exports are laid out for printing and are not tagged PDFs; when a student will read a material with a screen reader, export it to Google Docs or Word instead. Review generated materials before sharing them with students, including any image descriptions.
6. Compatibility
AIccommodate is a standard web application built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA, intended for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari together with the browser’s zoom and the operating system’s assistive technologies. Testing for the current report was done in Chromium, the engine behind Chrome and Edge. On the evaluated pages, every function works from the keyboard, no information depends on colour alone, and no screen orientation is required.
7. Feedback and Support
If you meet a barrier anywhere in AIccommodate, email hello@aiccommodate.com with the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days, offer a workable alternative while a fix is in progress, and tell you when the fix ships.
8. For Schools and Districts
Public schools answer for the accessibility of the web services they make available under ADA Title II (28 C.F.R. Part 35, Subpart H, WCAG 2.1 Level AA) and, in New Jersey, under N.J.S.A. 18A:36-35.1 and its biennial statement of assurance. The Accessibility Conformance Report above is written for those files. On request we will walk your accessibility coordinator through the report, provide the current version at any time, and agree to remediation timelines in your service agreement.
